THE ANCIENT BERSERKER
In the light
of the elevator’s interior the creature could be seen more clearly, and even with her glasses off she could see it resembled
a large bear that stood upright like a man. There was no doubt this was the beast Aleksy had spoken of. Its lower lip was
pushed out almost as a pout, but it became obvious this creature was not forlorn when its deep growl filled the elevator.
It lowered down, its huge arms flexing visibly, and Lucia could make out the two large swords on its back, and the bloody
bag tied to its waist. Then the elevator doors began to close, and those swords were drawn quickly and lodged into the floor
to stop them from shutting.
Now the bear-creature
moved toward her, half walking, half crawling on all fours. She scooted back, unconsciously lifting herself off the ground
so her panties wouldn’t be dragged lower, but the creature continued its steady approach. Then she got up and turned
to run; to where, she wasn’t sure, but she had to get away. She felt the creature grab her shoulder, and then the wind
was knocked out of her when it slammed her against the wall. Breathless, she slumped back to the ground, unable to move for
fear it would do worse.
Clenching her
eyes tightly shut, she prepared for the worst as she felt it get closer, its warm breath flowing disturbingly across her face,
bringing a revolting sensation from her stomach. Then it did something quite unbelievable. It spoke.
